since october 2006, i have been looking after xavier for 2 days a week while working 3 - it's all coming to an end...
with a new baby on the way, and some negotiations at work, i will be returning to full time work.. this marks the end of my time as a stay home dad, and it's very very sad to come to this point. i have had the opportunity that many don't get, and i think we were able to take full advantage of it. xavier and i have a great bond that i hope will remain, and we have grown together and done so many great and fun things. we had a pretty regular routine - on thursday morning, we would head to belmont forum to do the grocery shopping before the hordes of OAPs invaded... after that, we would go to storytime at the belmont library... this was always fun, and although xavier didn't fullry get into it, he really does love having books read and hopefully this may lead to a good reading habit.... following the library we would go to the volcano park for a play with friends... earlier, we used to join friends for kindy guym on thursdays - this was a regular thing we tried at queens park and riverton, and was a class full of toddlers climbing, jumping, rolling, singing - it was here that xavier developed his fear of parachutes... after kindy gym our friends used to have a picnic in the park outside and the kids would eat and run around... afternoons on thursdays often included playing with trains, sometimes acitvities, visiting friends and sometimes watching playschool or thomas... on fridays of late we have had great fun at kindy sports, at belmont, which involves a few toddlers doing lots of sporting games involving balls, exercise, running and generally participating - xavier has really grown to enjoy this... We have had so many enjoyable days with friends, family, shopping, driving around, listening to music, parks, playgrounds, visits to workn and more... it will be sad to see it go, but i know that we made the most of our opportunity...
