we just finished a relaxing week in bali - xavier's first trip overseas... xavier has been building up to this trip for a while and knows that it's a big deal - he had know idea how much preparation and contingency went into this though.. a holiday with a 3 year old was a challenge... the bordeom of checking in early at the airport was the first hurdle - stuffing red rooster into his mouth provided a little snaity, but he was excited and wondered why we couldn't just get on the plane... the jounrney was ok, although he didn't sleep - the dvd player was a godsend... a long wait in the passport line and a long car ride to ubud was managed peacefully... xavier had a bed on the ground, but on the first night wanted to sleep with us, which was fiar enough... our first day in bali was a day of silence and meant we were locked in our hotel - we discovered the pool and xavier loved it - he also discovered chocolate cornflakes and ate them for breakfast every day... generaly our stay in ubud was punctuated by breakfast, a short excursion out - sans pram thanks to the sidewalks, and hence xavier being carried everywhere for a week - a 'special drink' - a lssi or juice, a swim at the pool, a sleep for up to 3 hours, another excursion, some dvd watching and dinner... xavier gave up on any pretence of eating local food, choosing chips on most occasions, although by the end, he'd almost given up on them... he enjoyed the juices and drinks, being out and playing with his trains, but most of all he loved swimming, wearing his 'gaggles' every day!! |
